Church Tours

Would you like to take a free tour of The First Church of Christ, Scientist?

The tour includes two church edifices.

  • The Original Edifice, a Romanesque style church built in 1894, includes stain glass windows of Bible Stories.
  • The Extension, a Byzantine-Renaissance style church built in 1906, includes one of the nation's largest Aeolian-Skinner pipe organs.
  • Learn about an important woman in New England history, Mary Baker Eddy, who was the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. She is the author of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures and the founder of The Christian Science Monitor.

When are the tours?


  • Sundays, 11am to 3 pm
  • Tuesdays, 12 noon to 4 pm
  • Wednesdays, 1 pm to 4 pm
  • Thursdays, 12 noon to 5 pm
  • Fridays, 12 noon to 5 pm
  • Saturdays, 12 noon to 5 pm

No tours on Mondays or holidays

Where do they begin?

  • Just inside the large, glass entrance to the domed church near Massachusetts Avenue

How long are the tours?

  • One half-hour
  • Guides can tailor the length to your specific needs
