Responding to hurricane Katrina

Our hearts go out to all those affected by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and throughout the Gulf coast area. We invite our readers to join those all over the world who are praying to know that God's ever-present love is with everyone — comforting, guiding and protecting, at every moment.

At the same time, The Christian Science Board of Directors has established a relief fund to provide needed assistance for ongoing relief efforts in the region. And, as the depth of the need becomes more apparent, we will find additional ways to respond.

Thank you for your heartfelt prayers and loving contributions in support of those in need.

Prayerful Response

The Christian Science Monitor will continue to offer its caring and constructive coverage of the situation. You may also wish to take a look at upcoming issues of the Christian Science Sentinel, which will examine some of the ways prayer can make a real difference in situations such as this.

In addition, you're invited to explore how individuals are prayerfully responding to this situation on the Current Events page on spirituality.com, which includes the article,
"A refuge in the storm" published in the August 30th issue of the Monitor and a spirituality.com audio Q&A chat recorded August 29,
A prayerful response to Hurricane Katrina
