Christian Science Reading Room Activities
SUMMARY
This position manages the work that supports Christian Science Reading Room activities (especially communications) in accordance with Article 21 of the Church Manual. This work may consist of projects like the computer-for-purchase plan, planning a virtual Reading Room, or Reading Room workshops in the field. A large portion of the work consists of overseeing all outgoing correspondence to Reading Rooms and the content of the Website MyOpenDoors.com.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Oversees outgoing communications and correspondence with Christian Science Reading Rooms around the world, including approving content and design elements for MyOpenDoors Website. (25%)
2. Oversees major projects that support Reading Rooms in the field—e.g., computer-for-purchase plan, Reading Room workshops and conference calls, planning for a virtual Reading Room, etc. Additionally, supports technology initiatives related to Reading Rooms like a Customer Relationship Management, shopping cart, and fulfillment systems. (25%)
3. Serves on teams associated with the product lines, fullfillment, distribution, Office of the Treasurer, and others as needed. Helps teams set new policies for Reading Rooms, such as shipping and credit policies, and then spearheads the writing of the communications of these policies to Reading Rooms. (20%)
4. Serves as part of an intradepartmental management team that provides input to the Senior Manager on projects and issues that impact the whole department. (10%)
5. Serves as part of a team that provides merchandizing materials to Reading Rooms and partners and coordinates with other departments, representing the needs of Reading Rooms at inter-departmental meetings. (10%)
6. Performs administrative tasks. (10%)

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required. Three years or more experience as a Reading Room librarian and at least three years of management experience.
Knowledge/Skills
The incumbent should have the ability to create, implement, and oversee effective communication programs—and oversee several such projects at the same time. He/she should be able to represent Reading Room needs and considerations in collaboration with TWMBE and CSPS and in informing Reading Rooms of everything from new products to branding and marketing materials to policy questions. The incumbent must have well-developed skills in oral and written communication with a clarity that engages, informs, and motivates both employees and RR librarians in the field. The incumbent must have demonstrated presentation and facilitation skills, as well as the ability to prepare presentations and scripts for workshops and conference calls.
Technology Skills
Very complete working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as a high degree of comfort with emerging web technology. The incumbent should have Internet skills to be able to oversee the continuing development of the Website MyOpenDoors.com.
Work Environment
This position regularly works in an office environment, but also spends time in the field.
Christian Science Information
Mother Church membership and Primary Class instruction is required. Active healing practice of CS (with a desire for public practice) as well as branch church experience highly preferred.
