Shift Supervisor

SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the daily security
shift operations impacting site accessibility, hosting, and safety and security
at The Mother Church site, which includes 5 buildings, a 500 vehicle parking
garage, and 5 off-site properties. The incumbent
ensures that members of the security department are properly trained to provide
value by representing The Mother Church in a manner in keeping with the mission
of the department and the Church.
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.
Performs communication and shift operation duties. (40%)
- Ensures that the performance of the
shift's hosts and back-up supervisors (Shift Assistant Supervisor and Unit
1s) meets the quality standards.
- Follows, communicates, administers and
enforces the policies and procedures of the security department and TMC.
- Coordinates laterally with other shift
supervisors to ensure multi-shift coverage for events, and consistent
implementation of policies and procedures.
- Is responsible for security and
authorization of restricted access keys.
- Assesses and resolves issues impacting
the operations of the life/safety systems.
- Assesses and communicates issues
affecting the operations of the computer-based security
systems.
- Informs and works with other
departments regarding any safety and security situations in their areas.
- Responds to and investigates unusual
events or incidents and provides follow-up.
- Responsible for timeliness and accuracy
of incident and accident reports.
- Coordinates emergency responses, and is
responsible for the safety of Security personnel, employees and the
public. Coordinates with outside
agencies, such as Boston Police and Fire departments, as needed.
- Is accountable for all security
equipment on the shift.
- Ensures that operational procedures are
updated and communicated to staff.
2. Performs
administrative and planning duties.
(20%)
- Oversees scheduling to ensure adequate
security coverage. including special events.
- Ensures that the work of the department
is carried within budget.
- Sets monthly and yearly shift
objectives in coordination with the Security Services Manager (SSM).
- Participates in security management
team meetings regarding operational procedures, and planning future goals
and objectives.
- Makes recommendations on capital
investments and improvements and other budget requirements in planning
process.
- Works on projects on behalf of the SSM.
3. Provides training and
development for staff. (30%)
- Supports the shift through team
building, coaching, problem solving and goal directed performance
feedback.
- Implements TMC personnel policies and
procedures.
- Coordinates and participates in
continued training of staff, including security drills.
- Coordinates task implementation for
shift and provides direction concerning performance issues and host
development.
- Provides and coordinates host
performance feedback and counseling.
- Works with department training team to
plan training objectives and to prepare new training requirements in
alignment with department’s goals.
- Coordinates, prepares and writes
performance reviews and objectives with follow-up as needed.
- Recommends salary adjustments when
applicable.
4.
Interfaces with customers. (10%)
- Encourages and provides proactive
engagement with visitors and employees and instructs hosts accordingly.
- Ensures that hosts are professional and
welcoming to the public, providing information concerning all TMC
activities, Mary Baker Eddy and the MBEL.
- Informs, educates and works with
department managers and supervisors to insure that all safety and security
issues are resolved.
- Works with department managers and
coordinates security efforts for special events.
- Provides special security assistance
for departments of TMC.
- Ensures security and verification of
Church assets.

This position has regular contact with department
managers, supervisors, employees, contractors, vendors, public, site service

JOB
REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience
A Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience is
required. Three or more years of
supervisor experience is required.
Knowledge/Skills
Practical experience in a
security, life-safety or customer related service field is required. Membership in the American Society for
Industrial Security (ASIS) is preferred.
The incumbent must have the ability to maintain absolute confidentiality.
Technology
Skills
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) skills are required.
Work
Environment
This position works outdoors year-around
under varying weather conditions and deals with hazardous materials, fumes,
smoke and fire.
Physical Requirements
The incumbent must be
able to walk long distances, stand for long periods of time, climb stairs and
ladders, enter enclosed mechanical/equipment areas of buildings, and move about
on the roofs of buildings.
