Christian Science Practitioners
- Are available to the public. You do not need to be a Christian Scientist or attend church to ask them for help.
- Can answer questions about Christian Science and the benefits of this practical system of living and healing based on the Bible.
- Offer spiritually-based treatment – a specific kind of prayer explained in the book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, which results in physical healing and the resolution of a variety of life problems.
- May be contacted in person or by phone, email, or written correspondence. Additional services may include office visits as well as in-home or care facility visits.
- Are lay members of this lay Church. There is no clergy. When called upon to help, these Church members pray for one another as well as those in their communities locally and worldwide.
- Are not counselors nor do they advise those calling upon them. The treatment through prayer strengthens an individual’s understanding of his or her relationship to God and supports each finding one’s own inspired answers and resolutions.
- Are self-employed. Fees and payment are determined by the individual practitioner and should be discussed prior to engaging their services.
How do I find a practitioner?
- Full-time practitioners advertise their services in The Christian Science Journal and The Herald of Christian Science.
- Some of these fulltime practitioners also advertise online in the Journal Directory.
- If none are advertising in your community or region, you can contact practitioners in other areas to work with you remotely. You can also contact a branch church, society, or informal group and talk with a local member.
